Accounting Software Analyst

Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Accounting Software Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality of our accounting products, both new and existing, by conducting audits and implementing test plans. This process verifies that newly developed or modified software programs align with user requirements and adhere to established accounting standards. This role offers a pivotal position within our product management division and provides the chance to collaborate with key stakeholders. 

Responsibilities: 

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our investment accounting platform. 
• Collaborate with other accounting experts and development teams to identify and refine test requirements. 
• Conduct hands-on testing of new accounting products or improvements to existing ones, outlining complex scenarios and data variations for thorough testing. 
• Establish accounting rules used by the automated test to verify data accuracy in reports. 
• Monitor and investigate automated test results. 
• Define test scenarios for developers to automate. 
• Report defects in the defect tracking system, retest, and verify them once resolved. 
• Review and provide feedback on requirements, design, and scope documents. 
• Possibly assist with educating and training on accounting software enhancements and conveying corrections to other employees. 

Required Skills: 

• Strong knowledge of accounting functions and GAAP 
• Securities or financial markets knowledge 
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.  
• Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.  
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.  
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities. 
• Knowledge of Statutory Accounting (STAT) 

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.  
• 1+ years working within accounting, finance, or audit 
• CPA, CA, or equivalent 
• SQL and database querying experience
