A strong skilled accounting professional is needed for the day to day accounting and administration of BlackRock’s publicly traded business development companies (“BDCs”). Responsibilities include: daily cash recording and reconciliation, maintenance of monthly/quarterly reconciliations, maintenance and oversight of accurate books and records, and heavy involvement with Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) testing.
Your daily tasks may include:
– Daily cash activity recording and reconciliation;
– Maintain the books and records in Advent Geneva (preparation and/or oversight) for month end and quarter end close;
– Perform reconciliations on monthly basis between our bank records, accounting system, agent notices, etc.;
– Assist in quarterly confirmations with legal vendors, internal and external contacts as part of our quarterly close process;
– Adhere to SOX compliance and participate in ongoing internal control testing in order to ensure the best in class control environment;
– Invoice preparation, liaison with bank on paying invoices; and
– Assist in financial reporting, including SEC filings and related disclosures;
Experience
– Approximately 5-7 years of related experience, preferably in a “Big 4” public accounting firm or in the financial services sector;
– Experience in accounting, reporting and/or auditing preferred;
– Strong accounting skills, including knowledge of US GAAP;
– Thorough knowledge of internal controls as they relate to the accounting operations of a publicly traded entity. Knowledge of SOX process is preferred;
– Public company filing experience and knowledge of Advent Geneva accounting platform is a plus;
– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and team
– oriented environment;
– Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
– Ability to assist in facilitating process integration and improvements;
– Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and planning skills, including the ability to multitask;
– Proficient in Microsoft Office products, emphasis on Excel;
– Knowledge of the investment company industry a plus.
