Responsibilities

Role Description:
This role is part of team that provides accounting support and solutions to Principal Financial Group. This team consists of several processes like Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General ledger (Reconciliations and Journals support), Reporting, Tax, Control & Compliance.

This role will lead an accounting team of 15-20 FTE and will be responsible for Day to day operations, Month-end, KPI /SLAs management, Monthly governance, transition/change management, operation excellence, consult and provide solution related R2R/AP/AR/Tax best practices


Reporting Relationship
This role will report into Associate Director – Accounting

Key Responsibilities:

Process

  1. Manage accounting operations related to AP, Payroll, fixed accounting, commission accounting process
  2. Coordinate and support month end and yearend close
  3. Perform critical review of key processes, journals, reports and validations
  4. Support audit and finalization processes
  5. Ensure quality control over all financial transactions and reports
  6. Support and coordinate with onsite Finance team and business teams
  7. Manage and plan transitions
  8. Besides technical process support drive and improve process level SLA/KPIs

People

  1. Development and career planning of the teams under their purview
  2. Develop and implement reward and recognition programs within the BU.
  3. Drive employee morale and satisfaction
  4. Attrition management and ensure timely recruitment and training of Associates.
  5. Work closely with line HR to drive team spirit.
  6. Communicate, influence and enforce consistent processes and policies across teams

Special projects/ initiative

  1. Lead special projects/initiatives within the BU as well as engage in cross –BU initiatives.

Stakeholder relationship management

  1. Manage client relationship and front end with stakeholders to meet and manage their expectations
  2. Interface with our US counterparts on a regular basis
  3. Escalate issues which need their intervention.
  4. Exchange ideas and share best practices.

The essential skills for this would include

  1. 12 years of experience in an offshore finance and accounting function
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  3. Excellent proven technical accounting skills
  4. Leadership skills and ability to inspire the team,
  5. Experience in offshore setup will be added advantage.

Qualifications

12 years years experience in Fiance and Accounting in an offshore set-up

Graduate/Post Graduate in Commerce/Accoutning/Business 

Professional qualification e.g. CA/CA Inter, ICMA preferred
