BA Investment Accounting
Job Description
This position will support the investment accounting close, operations, financial analysis process and reporting under USGAAP, Management and Statutory basis of accounting for the company’s invested asset portfolio. The portfolio comprises of Commercial Mortgage Loans, Fixed Income Securities, Derivatives and Alternatives.
Position Description:
- Assist with accounting close process for company’s investment portfolio
- Perform and understand reconciliation between investment sub-ledger, general ledger and accounting warehouse.
- Ensure proper accounting and reporting under US GAAP basis, Management basis, and Statutory basis of accounting.
- Work with IT team as a BA to understand functional requirement and convert into use cases.
- Assist with production of monthly/quarterly investment packages and key drivers behind investment performance for both USGAAP and Statutory accounting bases.
- Assist with production of quarterly investment Income forecast
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to invested assets.
- Assist with delivery of audit documentation and provide support to internal and external auditors.
- Research, interpret and implement applicable accounting guidance, pronouncements and SEC and other regulatory requirements.
- Runs and maintains existing Investment reports for both internal and external clients. Reviews all reports before distributing and follows key controls to ensure the reports are complete, accurate and generated in a timely manner.
- Analyzes investment information in the reports that are being prepared. Researches and answers any questions that may arise from the customer of the reporting information.
- Works directly with the internal stakeholders to define and complete new report requests. Follows through with stakeholders to ensure that their reporting needs were met.
- Perform various daily/monthly checks and review reconciliations to ensure accurate, efficient, and effective processing in accordance to control process
Minimum Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA track preferred.
- 5-8 years of investment accounting and reporting experience under both US GAAP and Statutory accounting bases.
- Strong knowledge of investment products in particular derivatives, commercial mortgage loans, fixed income securities and alternatives.
- Strong project management leadership skills. Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, while meeting deadlines. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Project experience involving investment accounting system implementation
- Knowledge of investment platforms (i.e., PAM, CAMRA, Strategy, SAP) a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, MS Access, other report writing tools. (SQL is plus)
- Proven track record of process enhancement.
