The FLSmidth Global Business Services – Tax (GBS Tax) is being formed to support the Group’s compliance with indirect tax obligations globally. As the GBS Tax – Head of tax financial reporting we will count on you and your team to engage, connect and collaborate with colleagues all over the world to ensure FLSmidth fulfills its’ obligations with respect to corporate income and similar indirect taxes. This is an opportunity to build a team from the ground up and shape best operational practices to support of the preparation of indirect tax returns for our businesses globally.
Global Tax & Structure team
GBS Tax, as a part of the Global Tax & Structure team, is responsible for the operational aspects of tax compliance for the FLSmidth Group. You will develop and manage a small team of tax compliance professionals based in Chennai, India servicing the global FLSmidth business.

Your responsibilities
Specifically with respect to managing a small team to deliver operational activities to ensure that FLSmidth meets our obligations globally regarding the financial reporting of taxes:
- Compliance
Development, implementation and enhancement of processes to calculate and document tax assets, liabilities and expense in accordance with IFRS IAS 12 and internal reporting standards.
Supporting GBS Finance in the booking of tax balances within ERP systems.
Management of the information flows with stakeholders.
Quality control of the work product of own team and work product of outsourced service providers.
- Reporting
Supporting Global Tax and Finance teams with reporting and accounting of taxes and associated disclosures.
- Strategy
Supporting Global Tax Advisors – Direct Tax and Tax Risk & Strategy in the identification, development and implementation of Strategies which support and enhance tax control frameworks and process efficiencies for financial reporting of taxes
- Governance
Ensure that the operations conducted by the team comply with Group Tax Policy and tax control frameworks.
What you bring
- Subject matter expertise – IFRS IAS 12 and accounting for taxes
- Graduate level qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Law.
- Chartered Accountant registration or equivalent
- Significant experience (Min 5+ years post qualification) in the calculation and financial reporting of taxes for multinational business gained through professional advisory firms and/or in-house centers of excellence.
- Strong financial analysis skills and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Ability to set priorities, plan, organize and work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines both personally and for a team.
- Excellent English language (oral & written) and interpersonal communication skills to work efficiently and productively with a diverse group of stakeholders, advisors and colleagues on a daily basis. Other languages will be viewed positively.
