IDC – Director – Finance and Accounting
Job Description
Danaher is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join and play a key role in our growing Finance and Accounting Team. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, responsibilities of the R&D Finance Leader will include managing functional budgets, providing operational thought leadership and analytics, and partnering with functional and program leaders in Danaher’s R&D organization. This successful candidate will also contribute to overall financial planning and analysis for the whole company, support business development opportunity assessments and, as the organization grows, manage and provide mentorship to other finance team members. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented and analytical with the ability to see the bigger picture. The candidate should have exceptional business collaboration skills with an eye towards process improvements and providing insightful analysis to drive decision-making.
This is a high impact role requiring strong financial and management skills, decision support analysis, ability to shape and influence strategic investment decisions and ability to multi-task. This individual will be a key strategic leader within the R&D Finance team, with opportunities for visibility and influence with Senior R&D leaders, the CFO and the Steering Committee.
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with Danaher R&D Site Leader to drive strategic objectives of the organization.
- Serve as key finance business partner for and establish strong relationships with Danaher R&D organization, including Research, Technical Operations/CMC and Clinical, and key external stakeholders.
- Provide support to R&D functions including budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and resource management.
- Work closely with R&D project teams to budget, forecast and support decision analysis.
- Responsible for modelling the overall pipeline, including forecasts, budgets, scenario analysis and valuations.
- Lead quarterly R&D reviews assessing trends and key drivers of spend.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting team to prepare financials at a company level for budgets and forecasts, monthly and quarterly closes as well as budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of Company annual budget, forecast and strategic plans of the organization.
- Work with Accounting to support financial close, including R&D accruals
- Actively participate in FP&A initiatives, including seeking out opportunities for process improvements and ad hoc analysis to support decision making.
- Support Accounting team with analyses for financial business processes and reporting such as cash management, tax and statutory compliances such as STPI filings.
- Partner with the Accounting team to establish and maintain SOX-compliant financial processes.
- In anticipation of further growth, manage and mentor Finance team members
- Also oversee and support the operations responsibilities as required by VP, IDC.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant or MBA finance with 15+ years of work experience in finance
- Experience in R&D finance, ITES industry.
- Proven track record of leading financial processes, including budgeting and forecasting
- Proven “business partnering” skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and modelling skills and experience with financial systems
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Outstanding relationship building and communication skills, including ability to navigate throughout organizations and with individuals at all levels
- Critical thinker – highly analytical and equally comfortable thinking strategically and keeping track of details
- Ability to manage direct reports, as well as lead & influence without direct authority
- High sense of urgency and ownership, with exceptional follow-through and communication skills
