Context/Scope:

Global Business Operations (GBO) in Diageo support standard processes and systems with effective and efficient shared services across the world. GBO Diageo provides back office processing (FC, financial reporting, cash cycle, operations and HR) and other benefit services. It also encompasses a significant part of the group’s Financial Planning & Reporting and Treasury activities. Diageo is a multicultural, multi-language environment.

Dimensions

Financial:

Financial reporting team is part of the finance controllership function. Its main responsibility is to support the preparation, review and publish the entity wise BFC financial packs for the various entities within the respective regions in accordance with the group reporting timelines.

The team is involved in various ongoing projects to drive efficiency, standardization, simplification and automation within the service delivery team.

Market Complexity:

Diageo Global Business Operations the largest and most matured member of the network, provides various finance and accounting related activities and HR operations services to the relevant Diageo entities across the world.

Purpose of Role:

This Team will be responsible to produce and submit BFC reporting and disclosures as per IFRS and global group reporting instructions for various Diageo entities for APAC. The overarching aim is to provide accurate reporting by the team and the narrative behind figures. Key to success is continuing to build on our partnerships within Finance and with multiple partners.

  • Lead and accountable for the BFC financial reporting packs for all Diageo entities for APAC region and ensure balance sheet accounts reconciliations and GLAT management
  • Interact with senior finance APAC partners and agree upon the various accounting plan related to various month end close adjustments related to stocks, cash, inter-company transactions, etc.
  • Build strong relationships with APAC partners across FC, RFCs, Business Finance teams and other risk and control functions outside of Finance.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with group reporting policies and procedures.
  • Leading a team of regional leads and entity owners (15 – 20)

Top 3-5 Accountabilities:

  • Understand the various business movements in APAC and provide business insights for such moves to the teams and work with APAC Finance colleagues to review and improve controls around the submitted numbers.
  • Act as a deputy to Financial reporting – AVP and support APAC and LAC regions
  • Participate in the relevant Group Finance calls to ensure smooth execution of the process.
  • Key interface between APAC FC community and the Financial reporting team.
  • Support APAC internal / external audit.
  • Work with key APAC partners in Finance team, business and regulatory affairs and support projects and relevant updates to the database as a result of regulatory initiatives/ changes.
  • Ensure smooth month end close as per global group reporting guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence with all the relevant CARM controls applicable to the financial reporting team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation agenda to improve service efficiency and maximise customer satisfaction
  • Measure KPI’s and Data Quality.
  • Ensure high engagement – Train, coach, motivate and develop skills of the team.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

People Management

– Ability to make decisions, influence and drive others and work in a collaborative manner and find resolutions to potential conflict.

– The ability to simplify and explain complex issues to other colleagues, including senior management.

– The ability to work in a continually changing environment with colleagues across multiple offices and cultures.

– Good people management and interpersonal skills.

Operation Management

A good understanding of the Reporting Framework and Product, Risk and regulatory drivers of the businesses is preferred.

– Strong presentation skills, networking and communication skills (verbal and written)

– Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)

– Working knowledge in a proprietary tool such as SAP, BFC, Power BI is preferred.

Other Work Experience

  • Has deep understanding of the group financial reporting, accounting concepts, reconciliations, month close process, various RtR functions in order to ensure integrational thinking across the teams.
  • Be able to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent time management and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Degree in Finance. Professionally qualified like CA/ CMA/CPA
  • Excellent business partnering and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting ideas simply to a business audience and identify accounting implications of business issues.

  • Strong understanding of risk and controls
