Job Summary
The Accounting department’s role is to have accurate, timely and informative results with a service-minded approach. As a department, our role is to assist others and to support our Finance and Accounting initiatives of the global enterprise, Bread Financial. As a team, we work hard and value working together towards a common goal. Senior Manager Accounting should independently manage the General Accounting functions, and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The role will require coordinating with US accounting management, auditors, and internal and external partners to ensure the business areas compliant from a financial policies and procedures perspective. The role will require presentation of information in a concise, relevant format to senior management to enable their decision-making. Candidate should be able to produce high quality work within tight time frames and be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role requires to manage, support and guide a team of accountants with global support initiatives, along with managing staff transitions, identify opportunities areas for growth, support new work projects and efficient stakeholder.

Essential Job Functions
Leadership: Leads, develops and coaches a team of accounting professionals – hiring, teaching, coaching, goal setting. Ability to completing/conducting performance evaluations by providing continuous feedback. Recognizing/celebrating accomplishments of team members. Lead both direct reports and other associates to accomplish company initiatives.
Accounting: Excellent inter department coordination for accurate accounting. Ensures timely and accurate closing of books of accounts, preparation of Trial Balance and Financial Statements. Timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline. Verify that GAAP and Bread Financial Accounting Policies are being followed. Ensure proper accounting controls (SOX control environment) are in place and functioning as designed. Review processes to find efficiencies as a result of redundancy or unnecessary tasks being performed.
Compliance: Partner with stakeholders both internal (US accounting and treasury functions) and external (auditors and consultants) to ensure the global organization and business processes are in compliance to policies and procedures.
Process Improvements and documentation: Identifies opportunities for process improvements. Identifies and implements process standardization. Prepares clear and concise documentation. Influences change, prioritizes efforts on critical initiatives, and works to identify find solutions to opportunities. Applies knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work.
Analysis: Provides detailed variance analysis; Actual Vs Budget Vs Forecast. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy by analyzing data and drawing conclusions based upon the data.
Project management: Lead process improvements and initiatives. Project manage initiatives from gathering requirements, following up with key resources, documenting project decisions and implementing the initiative. Driving improvements to policies, procedures, and processes that improve consistency, accuracy and timeliness as well as strengthen internal controls. Establishes clear controls & monitoring as a result of the issues management process, including governance, self-assessments, testing, reporting, communication and training. Self-starter with ability to work independently and multitask to meet deadlines. Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy by analyzing data and drawing conclusions based upon the data. Establish and meet critical deadlines while prioritizing multiple activities and complex projects simultaneously.
Stakeholder management: Works closely within the department, cross-functionally and both locally and globally to produce reports in a timely, high quality and insightful manner. Works cross-functionally and collaborates to gain knowledge and insights of volume related activities. Maintains communication with business partners to stay in front of activities with a forecast impact. Builds effective relationships within the team and all levels of the organization.
Team management: Gain in-depth process and systems knowledge in their respective areas, work closely with local and global US teams to understand and deliver to expectations. Participate and support initiatives and projects undertaken by accounting teams. Ensure deliverables are met timely and accurately. Support and guide India team members, manage transitions and new work and projects. Plan and ensure business continuity. Proven experience in process automation, simplification, and standardization. Ability to translate company vision and goals to team goals followed with individual goals. Build and manage highly efficient team with high morale.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment, some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, commerce or equivalent.
Area of Study: Business Finance, Accounting, Compliance
Years of Work Experience Required: 11+ in Financial Services Industry/ Technology Industry/ Service Industry
Type / focus of work experience required: Candidate should have worked with strong accounting and compliance domain knowledge. Should have experience in leading a small finance & accounting team. Transformation mindset – Open to accept and adopt change and bring change to the way of working and structure is a must for this role.
Preferred Experience:
Degree Preferred: MBA / M Com in Finance & Accounting
Area of Study: Years of Work Experience Preferred: 15+ years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts, Statutory Compliance, team management, and process transitions.
Type / focus of work experience preferred: Prior experience and working knowledge of US GAAP
Prior experience with global, multi-national entities, leading teams in coordination with US enterprise.
Understanding and experience with accounting for fixed assets, property and equipment leases, internally developed software, IT cloud accounting, technology hardware and software licensing and maintenance.
